These terms govern every hire made with Motoring.Rentals. Please read them before you book — by placing a booking you confirm that you and any additional driver meet the requirements set out below.
The Company is Motoring.Rentals, operating from Lutterworth LE17 5QJ.
The Hirer is the other party to the hire agreement. The Hirer and/or any Additional Driver is a person officially authorised to drive the vehicle at the time of signing the hire agreement.
The only persons permitted to drive the hire vehicle are the Hirer and/or any Additional Driver who has been officially authorised to drive the vehicle as stated in the hire agreement and signed by all parties.
The Hirer and any Additional Driver must supply their original photocard driving licence together with a valid DVLA licence check code, obtained via www.gov.uk. Overseas visitors must supply their original national driving licence and passport, plus an International Driving Permit where their licence is not in English.
Two further forms of identity are required — for example a bank statement or utility bill — both dated within 60 days of the date of hire. All names and addresses must match those of the Hirer. Copies of these documents will be taken and retained by the Company.
Failure to provide these documents and information will invalidate the booking and forfeit the prepaid booking fee.
Drivers must be aged between 25 and 77, and must have held a full UK, EU or recognised overseas driving licence for a minimum of two years.
Drivers must not have been involved in more than one at-fault incident in the last three years, must not have had a licence revoked or been banned from driving in the last three years, must have no more than two minor convictions or six penalty points (obtained or pending), and must not have any BA, DD, UT or other serious conviction.
One Additional Driver may be added to the policy at the cost shown at checkout. Additional Drivers are subject to the same terms and conditions as the Hirer and must supply all documentation and a valid licence check code.
The Hirer's obligations begin when a booking is made and payment has been received. Payment in full for the value of the hire period must be made in advance for the specified vehicle by debit or credit card, subject to vehicle availability at the time of booking.
Once booked, the vehicle is reserved for the hire period. Failure to complete the hire agreement and satisfy all conditions of hire on the day of hire will result in forfeiture of the booking fee, subject to the cancellation policy below.
Prior to hire, the insurance excess and security deposit are taken by pre-authorisation on a debit or credit card. Failure to complete this process will also lead to forfeiture of the prepaid booking fee.
Where an airport or address delivery is booked, the delivery and collection fee shown at checkout covers both legs of the journey. We drive from our base in Lutterworth (LE17 5QJ) and hand the vehicle over in person.
For airport handovers the Hirer should provide flight details where possible so that we can track the flight; we will wait for delayed arrivals at no extra charge. Where flight details are not supplied and the Hirer is not at the agreed meeting point at the agreed time, waiting time may be charged.
The Hirer is responsible for returning the vehicle to the agreed collection point, at the agreed time, in the condition in which it was supplied. Airport return locations, car parks and postcodes are set out in the relevant airport guide on this website.
The number of persons carried in the vehicle must not exceed the normal seating capacity of the vehicle. For the avoidance of doubt, this is confirmed by the number of seatbelts fitted.
The nature of our business means the number and choice of vehicles is limited. Classic vehicles in particular are offered subject to seasonal availability and mechanical condition. Where a specific vehicle becomes unavailable we will offer the nearest equivalent from the fleet or a full refund.
The Hirer must ensure the vehicle is returned before the expiration of the hire period, at the time confirmed at the time of hire. A likely late return must be reported to the Company as soon as possible and will involve additional hire charges at the prevailing daily rate. Failure to inform the Company may result in the vehicle being reported as stolen.
Please note: vehicles are fitted with tracking devices.
If you cancel your prepaid booking you will forfeit the prepaid booking charges in full. At the sole discretion of the Company, where cancellation is made by giving at least 14 days' notice, the Company may issue credit to 50% of the value of the original booking or, in exceptional circumstances, rebook the hire.
All refunds, where granted, are processed manually by bank transfer or to the original payment card.
The Company may, at its sole discretion, cancel a booking due to adverse weather conditions or for reasons of safety. Where this occurs, the prepaid booking charge will be refunded in full by bank transfer, or the hire rebooked by arrangement. In such circumstances the Company will endeavour to give the Hirer at least 24 hours' notice in writing by email, text message and/or telephone.
Petrol vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and must be returned full. The fuel gauge of a classic car may read lower or higher than full; the indicated level is recorded at the time of hire. Where the vehicle is returned with less fuel than at handover, a service charge of £20 plus the cost of the fuel from the nearest filling station will be levied.
Electric vehicles are supplied fully charged and should be returned with a charge of at least 80%. Where returned below this level a service charge of £20 plus the cost of charging will be levied. Public charging costs incurred during the hire are the responsibility of the Hirer.
Fully comprehensive insurance cover is provided, subject to an insurance excess and security deposit, for the period of hire specified in the hire agreement. A pre-authorised amount corresponding to the insurance excess and security deposit must be taken prior to hire.
If the vehicle is stolen during the period of hire, or returned damaged, the insurance excess and security deposit will be processed in full to cover the theft or repair. In the case of repair, once the final cost of the work is known, any partial refund due after deducting the cost of repair will be paid by bank transfer.
Where a hire vehicle is stolen or damaged while the Hirer or Additional Driver is (a) under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, (b) convicted of offences of dangerous, reckless or careless driving, (c) the vehicle is driven by an unauthorised driver not named in the hire agreement or insurance proposal, or (d) the Hirer, driver or Additional Driver is negligent or otherwise engaged in an unlawful act, the Hirer is wholly responsible and liable for the full cost to replace or repair the vehicle.
Hires include unlimited mileage within mainland Great Britain. The Company reserves the right to discuss and agree exceptionally high mileage itineraries in advance, and to apply a fair-use charge where mileage is materially inconsistent with the itinerary declared at the time of booking.
In the event of an accident or breakdown, all relevant details must be recorded, particularly those involving another driver, vehicle, person or property. The incident must be reported immediately to the police or emergency services, as appropriate, and to the Company.
In the event of an accident, national breakdown cover does not include vehicle recovery, which is the responsibility of the Hirer. No admission of liability should be made until the accident has been fully investigated by the insurers.
Driving outside mainland Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) is strictly prohibited and is not covered by the insurance, unless arranged in advance at additional cost at the time the vehicle is hired. This includes Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands and continental Europe.

j) The Hirer has sole responsibility for the safe return of the vehicle. The Hirer and any Additional Driver must respect the Road Traffic Acts and the Highway Code.

b) To pay for the cost of any repair resulting from mechanical or other breakdown, provided that the Hirer obtains the Company's prior consent before any repair is authorised. c) To maintain the vehicle in a roadworthy condition and to ensure the vehicle is taxed and holds a valid MOT certificate in accordance with the Road Traffic Act.
If, at the time of hire or in the period between booking and hire, the vehicle becomes unavailable, the Company has the right to cancel the booking and/or the hire agreement by giving the Hirer verbal or written notice. In such circumstances the Company will refund the Hirer all monies paid and shall not be liable for any damage, loss, costs or expenses arising from the termination of the hire agreement.
The Hirer's and any Additional Driver's personal data will be used exclusively for the purposes of the hire agreement and will not be disclosed to third parties unless previously authorised by the Hirer, or where required by law or by the insurer. By making an enquiry, booking or reservation, the Hirer acknowledges that their personal data will be used for the purposes outlined above and that communication with the Company may be made by email or other internet-based exchange.
